Southside Development Co. is a collaborative effort from some of the Southeast’s top developers and property managers. We exist to serve the mission of the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District, as we believe the best developments are public/private partnerships focused on a shared set of objective goals.
TEAM
Carol Clarke, General Manager
Ms. Clarke is a Birmingham native with a passion for creating positive community impact. She attended Ramsey High School, and studied electrical engineering at Georgia Tech. Currently, she volunteers with Operation HOPE, United Way, and CreateBirmingham.
Ms. Clarke serves as General Manager of Southside Development Company following a successful career engaging the community through leadership roles at Regions Bank, IBERIABANK, and the Birmingham Mayor’s Office, where she served as Director of Economic Development. Many years prior to this, Clarke managed Resident Services for several large public housing communities managed by H. J. Russell & Company’s Housing Division. While in resident services, Clarke most enjoyed spending time with community residents designing programs to be delivered at their respective sites, some of which were funded through competitive grant awards under the US Department of HUD’s Safe Neighborhoods and Drug Elimination programs.
Corporate Realty exists to create long-term impact for communities through meaningful placemaking. We do this by bringing the disciplines of development, property management, and brokerage together in one real estate agency—developing and delivering proactive real estate strategies that enable the organizations, cities, and communities to hit their objectives.
The Benoit Group’s core business focuses on the development of affordable mixed-income housing, market rate workforce housing, independent senior living, higher education student lodging, and mixed-use developments, that include components such as hopitality, office and retail. We pride ourselves in structuring complex mixed-finance and (P3) Public-Private Partnerships in order to achieve the optimum leveraging on our projects.
SPM Management specializes in professional property management for apartment communities across the U.S. since 1977.
BREC Development, LLC specializes in the renovation, acquisitions and construction of mulit-family communities. BREC has been involved in, and completed, a wide variety of conventional and affordable multi-family developments in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Minnesota, New York, Tennessee and Texas.
