April Open House Recap
On Tuesday, April 3, Southside Development Company joined the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District (HABD) to host the first of many Community Open House events to officially kick-off the master planning process for the Southtown Redevelopment. A vital part of process of planning for the future of the site depends on getting ideas and feedback from current residents, many of whom desire to return to the redeveloped site, and this event provided a great opportunity to directly hear the concerns of current residents of Southtown and register their questions and ideas. Gensler, the master planner for the redevelopment, led the planning facilitation while HABD promoted many supportive services and empowerment resources available to residents.
Earlier that same day, Andre Brumfield and Jim Oswald of Gensler, facilitated a visioning session with the Southtown Redevelopment Advisory Council. If you are a current resident of Southtown Court and you were unable to visit the first Community Open House, look out for post card notices in your mail or continue to visit this site to learn the exact date of the Open House in May.
